Two Victims Revealed in the Ivy League School Incident as Law Enforcement Press On With Manhunt for Gunman.

Two students who died in the weekend's tragic incident in Providence were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter continued following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared sympathies online, saying in part: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her family and friends, especially her parents.”

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the renowned school, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were injured in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 arrested in a raid at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate new worry for our public”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a police source told the news agency.

Law enforcement that entered the hotel recovered two handguns and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was detained, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one student was discharged from care, said Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in serious yet stable state, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Tributes were paid to Cook at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only in her youth... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”
