The 'Breaking Bad' Creator Reveals He Has a Plan for How Pluribus Will Conclude... Currently.

Vince Gilligan did not foresee that his new science-fiction series would turn into a massive hit. “The viewers have been incredible,” he states. “I was surprised by the show being as passionately debated as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

As the debut season of the acclaimed series coming to an end—and the next chapter greenlit and underway—Gilligan and his team opened up about the fan response and whether it will shape the storyline of Pluribus.

About the Overwhelming Fan Response

One could easily to get distracted by the widespread acclaim and fan theories surrounding Pluribus. He is making a conscious effort to ignore the noise.

“The experience is akin to force fed something incredibly sweet and being laughing uncontrollably,” he describes. “It's amazing, but I learn of it through word of mouth, and that's on purpose. Never in my life searched for my own name online, nor do I ever want to. Not because I don't care. It's a deep trap I know I would disappear down and then I'd be never leaving the house from the hardware store and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

Despite Gilligan’s best intentions, there’s it's impossible to ignore the immensely favorable response to the series. The best he and his team can do is to take it in stride and try not to let it alter the course of the show.

“It is not our goal to tailor anything,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not influenced by what people are saying.”

“We prefer to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan concludes.

A Pressing Query: Has Vince Gilligan See the Conclusion of Pluribus?

Considering the writers are not listening by fan response, does that mean they already know how Pluribus will finally conclude? In short yes… in a way.

“We've developed some interesting ideas about how the story could conclude,” Gilligan reveals. “yet we stand ready to abandon a good idea for a more brilliant plan. That philosophy has guided us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we conceive of something superior and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Alternatively, if all else fails, Gordon Smith has a humorous idea to serve as a last resort.

“My recurring proposal is that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and we're in there,” Smith jokes, “but no one is buying it.”

Alternatively, why not reference the iconic TV endings?

“I'd love for Carol to open her eyes beside Bob Newhart,” Gilligan adds, smiling.

Pluribus is currently available on Apple TV+.
