Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
