Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
