New Details Surface Concerning the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
Recent details have emerged about the untimely deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence property on Sunday.
A Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a confidential source, a therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently detained without bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source challenged several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
The source also pushed back against circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Timeline
Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
