Football Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game winning run was ended by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, however can the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was still that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.

My son told me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have have plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home record, the only side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
