England's Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Participation

Tim Southee's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was against the English side in the final month of 2024.

England fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is still working through the extent of his role will be during the upcoming Ashes contest in Australia.

The former Kiwi pace bowler is only likely to be present for the first Test because of his participation in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the UAE.

The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.

Speaking as England's team for the opening of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was announced, Southee said of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.

"We will determine what happens over the coming days."

England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australia side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the series, which begins on November 21.

"I don't think there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee remarked.

"Our focus is firmly on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [England's] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.

"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."

However, prior to the English team travel to Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
